« Favorite Films: The 70's | Main | 49:35! »

July 05, 2006

This is going to take me a bit, I'm up to 46 movies.

Dante DeSenzo

Here are some of the movies that would make my 80's list:
- Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back - 1980
- Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark - 1981
- E.T. The Extra Terrestrial - 1982
- Blade Runner - 1982
- Star Wars: Return of the Jedi - 1983
- Ghostbusters - 1984
- Back to the Future - 1985
- The Goonies - 1985
- Ferris Bueller's Day Off - 1986
- Predator - 1987
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - 1989

Yes...I know I'm a "SciFi Geek". Fortunately for me, my wife has made peace with that fact years ago. ;-)

I am with Deborah. I think it would be a shorter list if I listed the movies I didn't like.

1 Princess Bride
2 When Harry Met Sally
3 Good Morning Vietnam
4 Footloose
5 She's Having a Baby
6 Say Anything
7 St. Elmo's Fire
8 Amadeus
9 The Principal
10 Roxanne

Honorable Mention: Adventures in Babysitting, Back to the Future, Die Hard, Empire Strikes Back, For Keeps, Indiana Jones x 3, Mask, Overboard, Some Kind of Wonderful, Splash, Star Trek 2, Terms of Endearment, Working Girl.

And I even pulled my favorite 10 comedies for the next list!

Back to the Future
Grease 2
Dirty Dancing
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Adventures In Babysitting
Top Gun
Can't Buy Me Love (fond memories)
Working Girl
Batman (w/ Michael Keaton)
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Peggy Sue Got Married
War Games
GOOD ERA!!!! Such simpler times :)

I forgot 2:

Back to the Future 3

You didn't like Back to the Future II, Laura?

No, that one was terrible!! Didn't meet the standards of one and three at all!
Vacation done??

What's Xanadu?

Say what????????? You've never seen it!? It's with Olivia Newton John. I should have put it under the "Musicals" section really. It's fun and weird and unlike any other movie I've ever seen :) You should rent it! We used to have the soundtrack when I was a kid! You know that song "Have to Believe We Are Magic" and there's some E.L.O. stuff... oh, the memories :)

The first two are definitely my favorite two, but the rest are in no particular order:

Princess Bride
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Top Gun
Dead Poet's Society
Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade
War Games
Die Hard
Return of the Jedi
Adventures in Babysitting (good call, Laura)
