I will be spending my Christmas break trying to get ahead on some reading and blogging through some of the material. I have a class with Nancey Murphy enitled "Anglo-American Postmodernity" and I don't expect it to be easy so I will start off with her book of the same name. Any discussion on the posts that follow will be helpful in cementing some of this information into the addled collection of synapses that is my brain!
In the introduction to the book, Murphy clearly states that she is going to be discussing something different from the Continental version of postmodernity. In chapter one she says that her philosophical views were differ both from modernity and from the "relativistic conclusions of the Continental postmodernists." (p. 8) The book will focus on radical changes in three areas: epistemology, philosophy of language, and metaphysics.
