I had the uncomfortable experience of beating my personal best in the 5K last night. I ran in Nike's Run Hit Wonder, which ended in the Los Angeles Coliseum and included 16,000 runners. I ran it in 21:41 (my previous best was 23:04) and placed 190th out of the 4,280 people that ran the 5K. The full results are here.
The funny part of it all is that my GPS watch, which I normally use to pace myself, malfunctioned. That meant I was forced to guess at a pace. I tried to just relax and not worry about pushing too hard. I'm glad I beat my record by so much, but man did it hurt!
The pain will make you stronger!
