I'll say it again:
Pajama day at school is creepy.

I "vent" a lot on here, because let's face it, most of my time is spent in the company of ACTIVE children who don't want to listen to my sob stories. So, you, faithful computer community get to hear my woes.
This weeks highlights:
Convincing Liam that these were a bad idea, I don't know that I convinced as much as flat out refused to buy them, but still. Ugly as sin.
It's a good thing mom called me because my phone was in a kitchen drawer, hmmmm, I wonder how that happened?
I went to get gas and my window now refuses to go up...21 degrees friends mmmhhhmmm, I have been stranded indoors with the twins and insanity is slowly setting in. I have used all of my gambits and the tricks up my sleeves are dwindling. And DANG it's cold, or I would bundle everyone up and let them exhaust themselves outdoors BUT I can only find one of my gloves and mama wasn't meant for the cold.
Liam found my diamond wedding band (my only family heirloom) under my bed, at least it was found, I didn't even realize it was missing... my twins are greedy little imps. I keep my jewelry as far away from them as possible, but they are faster then skittering mice and sly, sly I say.
The following wins the award of the week, then again, it's only Wednesday. Best fight scene/conversation you don't normally hear goes to Fia and Ella. I came in the living room to Fia sitting on Ella, hitting her and screaming "Give me your panties!" Poor Ella had the misfortune of selecting a highly coveted pair of Tinkerbell panties that morning and Fia was using force to try and commandeer them. I give Ells props for not giving in to Fia's tyrannical takeover attempts, but instead, was unmovable in her anti pantie switcheroo stance. Yelling "NOOOOOOO!!!!!" Just so ya know, they don't normally attack each other, but the allure of the fairy was just too much for Fia.
There you go, my life in short-hand.
To one of the girls this morning:
"Come here...you can't hide from me! Well, you can, but you stink at it."

Here's some eye candy for ya!
(something is wonky with my crop tool, I'll figure it out later)
It's unlikely that I'll ever own one of these with their price tags...but they are lovely. These and other delicious treats can be found at ImageNations.

Bill and I were putting the girls to bed. We were talking about girls and boys and who was who. I'm going through people with Fia, I ask her what she is and a few other people and she's doing pretty well differentiating between boys and girls and then I ask what Liam is and she says:
(while punctuating each word with her tiny sweet pointer finger)
" Liam...(space to think, and then declare positively) VAMPIRE!"
Liam got his first giggly girl phone call. Two girls in his class just had to call him because they "missed" him. They inadvertently admitted to "liking" him.
OH. MY. WORD.
Third grade people, this is ridic.
He's sweet and cute, but seriously, this mama is not prepared for aggressive little girls.
Do no harm is not as widely taught as some other ideas....not stealing, killing etc. are the easy ones (in terms of notability). Doing no harm is more elusive to teach because of it's widespread and varied nature. It needs to be a state of mind, not just a proclamation, teaching it is hard. It (doing no harm) is kindness to the Earth and it's inhabitants, it's respect to others and their things. It means giving thoughtful consideration to your actions.
I had a discussion with Grandpa A not too long ago regarding this topic. He told me he distinctly remembers learning this lesson as a kid. And proceeded to tell me some local stories...one of kids knocking out lights on a railroad track leading to a train crash and the death of the conductor....and of kids playing with a pipeline that ended up flooding an area in town and causing millions of dollars of damage. What scares me from these stories is that the kids involved were not out to do anything atrocious, yet their actions led to them anyway. The problem with cause and effect is that you don't always know what the effect will be. What I do now, is that you need to give thoughtful consideration to your actions!
As a parent my responsibility and culpability are great. There are so many things to teach and better yet be an example of, it's hard, tiring and great all at the same time.
To my trio of rug-rats, you are so wonderfully sweet, I pray that when life kicks (and she will, because believe me she can be a real bitch) you'll not fold to cynicism, apathy, or being mean spirited. Hold on to who you are for this crazy life and be it.
"Nice guys (& girls) finish last", is just not true... nice people make the world go round and keep it moving. Nice people are those who care about the global population, who make it possible for me to believe in peace, an end to hunger, a clean ocean, and an end to atrocities like sex trafficking.
The "nice" people of the world are the ones who change it. Those who don't throw their garbage out of their car windows (because that's littering) or laugh at the racist/sexist jokes (because their demeaning to others), who stands up for the kid being bullied on the playground (because we treat others how we want to be treated). Being nice takes strength, it's hard, but you can do it, I can do it, it needs to be done.

I awoke from slumber and not a creature (kid, husband or baby) was stirring. I got up, got my coffee and jumped right back into bed with a book.
De-light-ful!

for all my stilted blogging. Bill and I are warring over the computer, not really a war, more like a skirmish or maybe a raid. One day we'll be rich and famous and will have another computer. Strike the famous part, I don't want fame, just money.
