Do no harm is not as widely taught as some other ideas....not stealing, killing etc. are the easy ones (in terms of notability). Doing no harm is more elusive to teach because of it's widespread and varied nature. It needs to be a state of mind, not just a proclamation, teaching it is hard. It (doing no harm) is kindness to the Earth and it's inhabitants, it's respect to others and their things. It means giving thoughtful consideration to your actions.
I had a discussion with Grandpa A not too long ago regarding this topic. He told me he distinctly remembers learning this lesson as a kid. And proceeded to tell me some local stories...one of kids knocking out lights on a railroad track leading to a train crash and the death of the conductor....and of kids playing with a pipeline that ended up flooding an area in town and causing millions of dollars of damage. What scares me from these stories is that the kids involved were not out to do anything atrocious, yet their actions led to them anyway. The problem with cause and effect is that you don't always know what the effect will be. What I do now, is that you need to give thoughtful consideration to your actions!
As a parent my responsibility and culpability are great. There are so many things to teach and better yet be an example of, it's hard, tiring and great all at the same time.
To my trio of rug-rats, you are so wonderfully sweet, I pray that when life kicks (and she will, because believe me she can be a real bitch) you'll not fold to cynicism, apathy, or being mean spirited. Hold on to who you are for this crazy life and be it.
"Nice guys (& girls) finish last", is just not true... nice people make the world go round and keep it moving. Nice people are those who care about the global population, who make it possible for me to believe in peace, an end to hunger, a clean ocean, and an end to atrocities like sex trafficking.
The "nice" people of the world are the ones who change it. Those who don't throw their garbage out of their car windows (because that's littering) or laugh at the racist/sexist jokes (because their demeaning to others), who stands up for the kid being bullied on the playground (because we treat others how we want to be treated). Being nice takes strength, it's hard, but you can do it, I can do it, it needs to be done.

SO the fam is heading to Seaside for some fun in the sun...where there have been some recent shark sightings. No, I do not want sharks near the coast.
Oh Holly, I thought of you, but know you probably won't see this, you know being in Iran and all! Nonetheless, this post is dedicated to you and your shark fear. Better me then you huh?
Right after I typed this post, I saw this sleeping bag and couldn't resist including it. Poor taste? Maybe, but still couldn't resist.

1 1/2 quarts of water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup liquid dish soap
Mix water and corn syrup until completely blended. Slowly stir in soap. Will last several weeks in an airtight container.I heard a rumor that this is the best bubble recipe ever...gotta say I was impressed and Liam and the girls have had a ball using it with giant wands.
Boarda chalk board, that is, I made using an old breakfast in bed tray...it has sides and "stands", so Liam can use it on trips as a hard surface to lean on and nothing will roll off... plus tic tac toe drawing and other cool things.
The girls love to draw with chalk on it and wipe it off...plus some time for ease I have them sit on the kitchen floor and eat lunch using it as a table.
Boy
Boy wonder, scoring his first soccer goal this week! Handing in his first Book report and being a fab Brother.
Bill
Cooking for the last 2 weeks and killin' it! Brilliant, especially the Bruscetta!

Acid Wash is back, really?!?!? I totally see bring back styles with a modern twist but not AW. I was at the mall and saw an EXACT duplicate of a dress I owned circa 1985...sweetheart neckline, AW, ruffled skirt.
So not cool!

Big girl panties, crib jumping, voting on school budgets, and Space Day , OH MY!
So, we have made the jump to big girl panties (the Elmo ones are super popular), we'll see how long I last. Speaking of jumping, Fiona J has decided she no longer wants to be confined to the crib...I foresee toddler bed shopping in the near future. I'm not ready for their freedom!!!!!
As for budgets/Christie...I'll keep my opinions to myself! But...I voted, did you?
Oh, and Liam is really excited for his schools Space Day. They have been working in crews within the classroom for some time now. Finding constellations, their chapter book had a space theme...basically, they have been super creative and incorporated the theme into all areas of their classroom work.
I loved all the kids coming to school in their space gear today. The kids wear their crew color, and bike helmets and empty back packs as their space suits. Today is the big day...where they travel from station to station completing "missions". Ha...even the crossing guard was wearing a hat covered in tin foil for the occasion. I'm sad I'm missing it...I so want pictures...but it's more then three hours, what to do with crazy Ella and Fia?!?! Oh well.

I spent the night worrying about being evacuated again. Though the water came all the way up the bank...our sump pump kept the h2o at bay. PHEW! Thank God.
Hopefully, I'll be getting things back in order and back online again soon.
Ciao, Ciao for now!
