Scenarios:
We are at the park with all three kids. Having a good time. Then El gets launched to the ground by a kid two times her size. She deigned to touch his toy. The parents apologized, blah blah blah. Again, the kid tackles Ella. Usually, when the parent apologizes, I say something along the lines of "it's ok" or "it's the age"...Bill, nothing. He doesn't nod his head, like it's okay, or crack a smile...he's not rude or mean, he'll let the parent work on their kid sans interference, but not make light of the situation. He, unintentionally, would make me squirm...I LOVE it.
He's so much better at stuff like that then I am.
Another time, not too long ago, I remember Bill putting the kibosh on a neighbor who was letting his dog jump up on the pack and play (in our yard). I had already made a big show of pushing the dog away...neighbor was not taking the hint...he kept saying how harmless his PITBULL was...I countered with how small my girls were. Bill comes outside as the dog jumps up again, and the neighbor makes no effort to curb him... Bill makes a a few curt comments and voila, problem solved. Again, not rude just concise.
He's got mad skills. I need him to rub off on me.
