Software I Use

Sonar is the main software package I use for sequencing, recording, and mixing. It has all sorts of great features that I will not try to list here. I have been using Sonar products since 2000 and currently use Sonar 6 Producer Edition.

Garritan Personal Orchestra is currently my main sample library for orchestral sounds. GPO is an inexpensive way to add all of the instruments of the traditional orchestra into your mix. The attack and the timbre of each instrument is controlled by velocity and the volume is controlled with a mod wheel or any other device that will record CC1. Storm Drum is my "go to" sample library for drum sounds. Here are just a few of the instruments included: African Bata, Taikos, Chilean Bass Drum, Egyptian Riq, Japanese Lion Drum, Djembe, Large Bodhran, Nigerian Udu, Dumbek, and Thunder Ensemble (hundreds of huge and dynamic, multi-sampled hits played by a 7 man ensemble in a warehouse).

Atmosphere, by Spectrasonics, is a great collection of ambient sounds that could be used for all sorts of productions. There are more than one thousand unique sounds and layer elements.
